This Lullaby By: Sarah Dessen

This lullaby is a story about Remy, who is the daughter of an eccentric Romance Novelist.  Her mother is on her fifth marriage and Remy is no longer sure she believes in love or relationships.  Everytime Remy gets close to a guy she dumps hime.  She is slightly obsessive compulsive and has strict rules about dating.  She tries tobe honest with the guy up front but sometime it just doesn’t happen that way.  After Remy decides that her current beau is ready for the boot she takes him to his house where she finds something that makes leaving him a little bit eaier, well okay. A lot easier.

While waiting for her most recent almost step-dad to come out of his office at the Car dealership she meets Dexter.  He is a clumsy, eccentric musician and tells remy that he just has this feeling about them.  Remy doesn’t believe that anything will happen because she has her set rules.  But after a while things grow different between her and Dexter and she doesn’t really understand what is happening.  Her friends believe that she might just be in love and know that they no longer have the old Remy, but as Remy and Dexter’s relationship gets more difficult and complicated the more things seem to be going wrong.  Dexter’s band is seen by a talent scout and from there things go haywire.  Remy makes a mistake and doesn’t know if it can be corrected.

Sarah Dessen captures all of the feelings of a first love in the pages of This Lullaby and you will not want to put it down until you find out the fate of poor jaded Remy and Dexter the oddball musician.  A wonderful book that will keep you reading until you hit the last page and will leave you content, but wanting more!

  1. I loved this book! I’m a huge Sarah Dessen fan. She has a new book coming out in June — Along For the Ride. I can’t wait for it!
